VOY novels • Full Circle

In which Chakotay reminisces over the past two and a half years, and Voyager is sent back into the Delta Quadrant with a fleet.

Plot summary

June 2380. Chakotay is about to meet with Janeway in-person, something they'd scheduled a year prior. But instead, Mark (to whom she was engaged before Voyager was lost in the DQ) shows up. He says Janeway isn't coming, because she is dead.

September 2378. B'Elanna Torres has spent the past eight months on Boreth trying to determine the fate of her daughter Miral, who some believe is the quvamaq, fated to save the Empire and restore the Klingon gods – which B'Elanna finds ridiculous. She calls Tom Paris, mentioning that Miral is "trying something new tonight" (sleeping); he responds by saying his mom had invited them both to a two-month-late celebration of his promotion to first officer.

After Tom hangs up, he realizes his dad had been listening in. Owen worries about him missing Miral's growing up. Tom says he won't, then remembers some Captain Eden had wanted to see him.

Eden (first name Afsarah, formerly married to Adm. Willem Batiste) has been debriefing Voyager's crew, studying its logs, and analyzing the enhancements made to it during its Delta Quadrant adventures, as part of Project Full Circle (title alert!). Paris arrives to the meeting a few minutes early. Eden asks about Voyager's initial whisk away to the DQ; Tom realizes this will be a very long conversation.

B'Elanna meets with the woman who invited her to Boreth, Commander Logt. Logt denies her request to leave Boreth because she questions her motives. Soon after, B'Elanna hears Miral crying. She runs into the nursery with her betleH (and Logt with her meqleH) and begins attacking the people trying to take Miral with them. One of them manages to escape with Miral ... and – QI'yaH – they beam away.

Admiral Janeway also has a four-hour-minimum meeting scheduled with Eden. She reschedules for the seventh time in three weeks at 0600 the next day, then asks her aide Decan not to disturb her unless there's a Borg armada suddenly appearing over Earth. Decan's response is oddly humorous for a Vulcan. Kathryn goes off to enjoy the rest of her evening.

Tom is still waiting for B'Elanna's ship to get to Earth an hour later. The party isn't going very well (the Doctor is 'holding his audience captive' explaining Oaxacatian vs Nekrestian genomes), and apparently B'Elanna hasn't even left Boreth yet. They decide on contact the Federation Ambassador to the Klingon Empire, Worf, but Chakotay happens to recieve new orders from Admiral Montgomery right at that moment, saying "It's the Changeling": the one that impersonated and tried to murder him has now assumed the form of a Kerovan diplomat, Merion Kol, who it successfully killed.
